Join Grace Wickerson, Rice Student Association President, as they discuss how everyone can play a local role to address social problems.
In 2016, the United Nations released the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all by 2030. For the goals to be reached, everyone needs to be doing their part: governments, the private sector, civil society, and people like you. And you don’t have to go too far to see that these broad goals for solving the world’s problems can be worked on right here in Houston, Texas. How can we apply the process of design thinking to fostering social impact? This workshop will engage students in learning and actively applying the design thinking process, a methodology that draws upon logic, imagination, intuition, and systemic reasoning to develop user-focused solutions, to address social problems.
Target Audience: High-School + College-Age focus but can apply to any age!
