Barbara Burger, president of Chevron Technology Ventures (CTV) since 2013 and renowned leader in corporate innovation, is joining Houston Exponential as chair. Her experience with CTV identifying and integrating breakthrough technologies will lend valuable insights as we work to strengthen and grow the Houston ecosystem.

“We are excited to welcome Barbara as chair of Houston Exponential at a time of great growth and momentum in our innovation ecosystem,” said Harvin Moore, president of Houston Exponential.

Chevron Technology Ventures has been a major player in growing the Houston innovation ecosystem for many years. CTV is the longest running continuous Corporate Venture Capital group in oil and gas and made its 100th investment in a startup company this year. CTV is also one of the founding Limited Partners in the HX Venture Fund.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of Houston’s innovation ecosystem which continues to see increased activity and investments in startups and corporate innovation,” said Burger. “As Chair of Houston Exponential, I will work with Harvin Moore, his team, and the Board to cement Houston’s place as a top 10 innovation ecosystem.”

Burger takes over the role of Houston Exponential chair as part of a planned transition from the founding chair, Gina Luna of Luna Strategies

“I am grateful to Barbara for her taking on this new role and I look forward to supporting her and the organization’s efforts to take Houston to the next level,” Luna said of her successor.

Burger expressed her thanks to Gina Luna for her leadership of Houston Exponential in its first two years, adding, “Gina was a key driver of the effort to accelerate the growth of the ecosystem and was instrumental in the formation of Houston Exponential. Thanks to the efforts of Gina and many others, we’re moving forward collaboratively.”
