Houston Exponential welcomes Serafina Lalany as new Chief of Staff
Houston Exponential is excited to introduce a new and integral member of our team, Serafina Lalany. Her background and experience make her a great fit for our organization and the innovation ecosystem at large. There’s a lot to know about Serafina, but we think this is a good start.
What is your job title?
Chief of Staff
I’ve spent close to the last three years immersed in the Houston tech ecosystem working across the Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations domains within organizations such as Station Houston and Fractal River as a Venture Designer. I’ve been fortunate enough to engage with over 200 startup entrepreneurs during this time. Prior to this, I worked in Boston at an early stage life science company, Corbus Pharma, which went on to become NASDAQ’s best performing bio tech stock in 2016. I’m also trained as a Six Sigma Green Belt, which is another way of saying I’m a nerd for process engineering and optimization.
Your goal in this new position at HX?
Optimize the way we curate connections between our ecosystem partners
Create new pathways for early stage capital to reach Houston entrepreneurs
Shed light on the amazing technologies and innovations that are bred in Houston
Your vision for Houston’s future startup scene?
My vision for Houston is for our entrepreneurs to get the recognition and resources they deserve. I’m a huge proponent for diversity in tech (especially in our leadership), and increased collaboration between our local universities and the ecosystem.
I moonlight as a DJ and participate in critical mass bike rides.
Upcoming project that excites you the most?
Centralizing startup data to more efficiently connect entrepreneurs to capital, customers, and key stakeholders
Something most people wouldn’t know about you:
I was a Global Health Fellow for USAID based in Limpopo, South Africa in 2014.
Volunteer work or charities you support?
Lemonade Day, as a mentor. Charities: Aga Khan Foundation, No Kid Hungry
