Changing the Colors of Investment
On the 16th of June we are hosting our event Changing the Colors of Investment (in-person by invitation only). We will introduce our summer pitch event for Members-Only and our series of panels open to everyone!
At baMa we believe in the power of diversity in early-stage investment, but there is a fundamental problem: the lack of diverse founders and investors. As the Harvard Business Review: The Other Diversity Dividend has shown, only 8% of the investors are women, about 2% of VC investors are Hispanic, and less than 1% are african-americans. Furthermore, the results are clear: the more similar the investment partners, the lower their investments’ performance. Homogeneous teams have worse investment outcomes because their decisions quality and performance is biased and limited. On the other hand, as investors we could be getting more benefits when investing in diverse teams and new innovative ideas that are challenging and improving the status quo.
At this big event you can learn and network alongside panelists, investors, and entrepreneurs. Some of the topics we will discuss are: portfolio diversification, leading innovation industries (healthcare, energy and fintech), women empowerment, navigating economic changes, among other exciting and trending challenges! Please check the agenda and speakers below. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to meet some of baMa’s sponsor and portfolio companies at the booth section.
There is something for everyone, so do not hesitate to join us in this networking and learning event. If you believe in the power of change and diversity attend the panels and get involved.
We will have a great time, while we learn why it is important to have a growing innovative and diverse ecosystem. Let’s keep changing the colors of investment together!
