About the Speakers

Patrick Udeowa, Executive Director, Texas-West Africa Chamber of Commerce

Patrick Udoewa is a second-generation Nigerian-American categorized by sharp-witted leadership skills and sheer tenacity. A native of Houston, Texas, Patrick is an independent IT consultant for healthcare organizations across the U.S. to integrate and implement electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Patrick has continuously delivered results that lead to better patient care such as management of patient populations, becoming Meaningful Use compliant, and enhanced interoperability and teamwork between separate healthcare systems. He was previously the Director of Learning and Development at Acclara Solutions, a revenue cycle management provider.

In the community Patrick served as the Executive Director of the Texas West Africa Chamber of Commerce and the Community Involvement Chair for the Houston Nigeria Cultural Parade. He is the founder of the Raymond Jellon Martin III Scholarship, a co-founder of Messenger of Change Inc., and a co-founder of Akwa-Ibom Young Professionals. Patrick is a 2003 initiate and “Life Member” of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. Patrick is currently a fellow of Leadership Houston class XXXVIII, as well as a graduate of Houston Black Leadership Institute (HBLI) Class V, and a graduate of Acceler8 Class II. He is also very active with the National Association of Health Service Executives (NAHSE) and American College of Healthcare Executives, and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

A native of Houston, Texas, Patrick received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising from Texas Tech University with a minor in English. He received his MBA in Management from American InterContinental University – Houston. Patrick also holds his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Information Technology Infrastructure Library certification (ITIL), and is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM). He also holds six Epic certifications including: Ambulatory, Bones, Kaleidoscope, Phoenix, Link, and Radar.


Desion Hubbard, Chair, Tech Committee, Greater Houston Black Chamber

Desion K Hubbard I is the owner and Principal Data Scientist of DataSterical, LLC. With close to 10 years of industry experience, Desion understands the data-driven requisite of his clients needed to bring value to their companies, harnessing data science and analytics. His latest effort is in developing a curriculum to provide training in software development and coding to felons and emerge them into the field of technology. Desion is a graduate of Texas Southern University from the College of Science and Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Master of Science degree in Data Analytics. In addition, he was a participant in Houston Black Leadership Institute (HBLI), Class V. He serves on the board of Directors of Acceler8. He also serves as the co-chair on the CITTI committee within the Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce. He is a leader and deacon at the Fountain of Praise. Desion is married and has the privilege of being a father to four beautiful children.
