STEM·E Talks: Coding with Microsoft educates 3-12 grade students in coding with Microsoft professionals. This is a 2 hour workshop where students gain hands-on training taught by Microsoft coding experts. 2 WORKSHOPS IN 1!!!

This workshop is for grades 3-12 grade students ONLY. While parents may supervise, the activities are geared towards students alone.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Code Your Own Video Game with MakeCode Arcade In this free two-hour workshop, students eight and older use block coding to create a video game with MakeCode Arcade. Students learn fundamental game and coding concepts—like sprites, variables, and coordinates—and use their new skills to create and customize a playable game. By the end of the workshop, students will have:• Learned and used key game design and coding concepts• Shared their games with a partner for inspiration• Published their game via URL so they can continue to play and develop it after the workshopThe parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult caregiver of every participant under 17 years of age must sign a Participation Agreement upon arrival and remain in Microsoft Store for the duration of the event.

NEW THIS FALL: We will coding/software experts to speak to students about the field and future of computer programming. Students will be provided with presentations from prestigious programmers, have access to companies, and gain hands-on training to learn more in-depthly about these professions.Come and learn about software professions while you learn to program!
